About Us

Our
Story

Hi, we are Erez, Yael, Yaar and Tom. Nice to meet you!

In August 2023, we decided to leave our comfortable life and hit the road. We packed up our house, flew to the United States, and bought a travel trailer and a pickup truck.

Yael is a registered dietitian, specializing in healthy nutrition and social media.

Erez is a social entrepreneur, he works in different NGOs and education systems.

Yaar was 4 and a half years old when we set out on our journey and Tom was 2 and a half years old.

We were in North America for a year.
We went to Boston in September and stayed with friends for a month, which was dedicated to organizing everything we needed to set out to the road,  inspecting trailers and pickup trucks.

In September we carried out all the bureaucratic processes associated with buying a trailer and a truck, and we also traveled in a rental car in the area. We traveled in the Boston area, drove to Cape Cod, and along the coastline of the northeastern United States to the wonderful Acadia National Park.

In October, we went out to the road with our travel trailer, we went north to New Hampshire and Vermont, and then south visiting the cities: of New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

From here we set off on a great road trip through Shenandoah National Park, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Smoky Mountains National Park, including visits to the states of Virginia, Tennessee, South and North Carolina, and then further south for a wonderful month and a half in the state of Florida.

From here we continued west stopping for a week in the exciting city of New Orleans and continuing west to Houston, Texas, where we arrived in early January.  We left the trailer and truck in storage and boarded a plane to Cancun in Central America, escaping the cold winter months and at the same time renewing our visa to stay in the United States, which was valid for 6 months.

We were in Central America for 3 months, visiting Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize, and returned in early April to Texas, where we traveled for several weeks, and from there to New Mexico and Arizona.
After crossing the great and stunning desert of the southern United States, we began driving north in mid-May through Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana, visiting the great National parks of the United States: Zion, Bryce, Arches, the Rocky Mountains, Grand Titan, Yellowstone, and Glacier.

In early July, we began traveling southwest through Idaho to Washington State, and after visiting the Mount Rainier National Park, we headed south to the green and wonderful state of Oregon, from there to the Redwood Forest Preserve in Northern California, and back north along the wild Oregon coastline.

Here in August we stopped near Portland, Oregon for a month and sold the travel trailer which had been a great home for us throughout the year.
Before boarding a plane back to Europe we made another trip only with our truck to Olympic National Park and visited Seattle, where our US trip ended in mid-September.

We didn't work this year, we invested our time in the journey and family in the wonderful and powerful nature that only the USA can produce. We lived throughout the year from savings that we slowly accumulated over 5 years and with a very clear goal of going on a family trip with the children and not working. Despite this, it is certainly possible to have such a trip and combine work, but it must be part-time.

We spent most of our time in nature, walking, picnicking, and swimming. We moved places every 5 days on average and tried as much as possible to stay longer in each state. We highly recommend taking the time and moving at a slow pace.

It is important to say that there are many difficulties and challenges in the journey. It isn't a vacation, being with the children 24/7 can be frustrating and challenging, and there are many straggles on the road but it is definitely worth it, this is an adventure of a lifetime, the nature is spectacular and the family bonding is priceless.

This blog tries to exhaust a lot of knowledge we have gained along the way, general knowledge about life in a travel trailer alongside knowledge about different places, hiking, campsites, etc.

We hope that our knowledge can help you when setting off or during your journey.
